CLARENCE MCGHEE JR.

Clarence McGhee Jr. has been singing for God since he was five years old, when he first lifted his voice in the children's choir. That calling never left him.

Born and raised with music in his soul, Clarence spent a brief season in his early twenties singing with secular groups after graduating high school. But in the summer of 1984, everything changed. At 23 years old, he rededicated his life to Christ and God called him immediately and directly into the music ministry. Within weeks of that surrender, his very first original song, "More Than A Conqueror," was born — melody and lyrics arriving together in a single moment of inspiration while driving home from church. It would be the first of more than 800 original gospel songs God would pour into him over the decades that followed.

For over 40 years, Clarence has served as a worship leader in the church, a role he describes as far more than leading congregations in song. He came to understand worship as a spiritual weapon — a force that drives back the enemy, lifts the body of Christ and invites the presence of God to fill every room where His name is exalted.

As an independent gospel recording artist, Clarence's journey has been marked by unwavering faith through real-life challenges. Financial hardship, personal setbacks and decades without a major recording contract never silenced him. He recorded on mini cassette recorders in the 1980s, moved into small studios in the years that followed and kept writing, composing and believing through every season.

In December of 2020, God spoke to him with a new assignment: write a Christmas album. It wasn't part of Clarence's plan, but it was part of God's. In just six weeks, eleven original gospel Christmas songs were born. He recorded each one a cappella in Voice Memos and sent them one by one to his daughter Bryttani McGhee, a talented music producer based in San Diego who brought each song to life in her home studio. In October of 2021, Clarence made the 700-mile drive to San Diego for a full week of recording sessions. When they sat down and listened to everything they had created together, it was nothing short of a celebration.

After years of patient faith and God's perfect timing, A Christmas Celebration was officially released on November 17, 2024. Clarence's first album is available on YouTube and all major music streaming platforms. Before the release, he marked the occasion with his very first solo concert at his church on November 2, 2024, an evening those in attendance will not soon forget.

Clarence McGhee Jr. is a gospel singer, songwriter, composer, worship leader and independent recording artist who has spent 42 years doing what God called him to do. He is not done. The next chapter is already being written.
